Ground Cellar on Old Dreese Farm
Old ground cellars can still be found throughout rural Pennsylvania. In earlier times, these structures provided a constant cool temperature for the storage of food and other perishable goods. This structure is located near Freeburg in Snyder County, Pennsylvania, and was once the home of my paternal great grandfather.
